Last time we dealt with the first two verses of Ps. 103 and now we will continue with the next next two (verse 3 and 4).

Verse 3: “He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.”              Verse 4: He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.”

I love the NLT of this Psalm for the one reason that it makes it more personal for me and you.  The Scripture states; “He forgives ALL MY sins and heals ALL My diseases”.  It is such a profound and bold statement that David makes here – although he lived long before the death and resurrection of Christ.  How could he say something like this as he still lived under the Law?  Or did he already understood the grace of God – which will come through Jesus – because we see so many prophetic Psalms flow from his heart and pen.

When we grasp the full extend and context of this simple line that He “forgives all my sins” – and this being a verb –  then we can only return to the first two verses where he also said: ” Let all that I am praise the Lord” (twice).   What else can we do – because we can never repay God for His mercy and grace!   The only way to repay Him is to accept His sacrificial offering on the cross of Golgotha, that His blood redeems us from sin and death, to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and then to serve and praise Him with all that I am.   Yes, He do forgive all our sins and He still do heal all our diseases through faith and in the Name of Jesus Christ!

This word “redeems” also mean that God bought us (with His own blood through Jesus Christ) from  eternal death.   But it does not stop there, because He also crowns me with love and tender mercies.  Basically it means He loves us unconditionally as a Father would love His children.  See the next scripture:

Joh 1:12 (KJV) “But as many as received him, to them gave he power (right) to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name;”   God gives me and you the power (rights; authority; seal of approval) to become sons of the living God when we believe on His name!  Powerful!

He crowns us – He covers us from top to bottom with His love, which is so evident for all to see.  Over and above His love, He also deals with us on a daily basis with a tender heart and soft words of guidance.  We just have to listen and respond according to His Word and guidance.  But now when we understand Him and what He has done for us, we respond positively through our service and praise and not because we are forced to do so.

Let all that I am praise Him for He forgives of all my sins!                                                                                                          Let all that I am praise Him for He heals all my diseases!
