{"id":906,"date":"2009-08-21T15:41:14","date_gmt":"2009-08-21T13:41:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.galmin.co.za\/blog\/?p=906"},"modified":"2009-08-23T17:16:57","modified_gmt":"2009-08-23T15:16:57","slug":"perfect-will-of-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.galmin.co.za\/?p=906","title":{"rendered":"Perfect will of God!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the previous message titled as \u201c<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.galmin.co.za\/blog\/?p=876\">Spiritual Attack and Defend strategies<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u201d, I have dealt with the following verses according to Paul to the Colossae:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Col 1:9\u00a0 <strong><em>For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Col 1:10<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00a0 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Looking at this in depth, we see the following aspects that he highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>that ye might be filled with the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">knowledge of his will<\/span> in all wisdom and spiritual understanding<\/em><\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>being fruitful in every good work,<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>\u00a0and increasing in the knowledge of God;<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0I feel the Lord is pressing it on my heart to explore this verse a little bit more, especially concerning His perfect will.\u00a0 We know that when we walk in His perfect will, you can not be anything else than to please Him, to be fruitful in every good work and also increasing in the knowledge of who God is and what His will for you would be.<\/p>\n<p>BUT, the question now arises: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What is the perfect will of God?<\/span>\u00a0 Is it a general phrase or term, or is it something more specific? I would not dare to proclaim that the following insight is the only explanation for the will of God, but I am sure it would give us a pretty good picture of it.\u00a0<!--more--><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rom 12:1-2;<\/span><\/strong><strong> <\/strong>\u00a0<strong><em>I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.\u00a0 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">good,<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">acceptable,<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">perfect, will<\/span> of God.\u00a0 (KJV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Paul writes and makes a clear distinction between:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Good;<\/li>\n<li>Acceptable ; and<\/li>\n<li>Perfect will of God<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0Strong\u2019s Dictionary describes it as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Good <\/span><\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 = <\/strong>benefit, well <strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Acceptable:<\/span><\/strong><strong> <em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 = <\/em><\/strong><em>fully<\/em> <em>agreeable; <\/em>well pleasing.<strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Perfect (<em> <\/em><\/span><\/strong><em>tel&#8217;-i-os): \u00a0\u00a0 = complete<\/em> (in various applications of labor, growth, mental and moral character, etc.); <em>completeness:<\/em> &#8211; of full age, man, perfect.<strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Will\u00a0 (<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em>thel&#8217;-ay-mah): = <\/em>a <em>determination<\/em> (properly the thing), that is, (actively) <em>choice<\/em> (specifically <em>purpose<\/em>, <em>decree<\/em>; <em>inclination:<\/em> desire, pleasure, will.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The perfect will of God also includes \u201cself-consecration\u201d. To die in oneself and let Christ live in you!\u00a0 It is to be the reflection of God\u2019s own perfection, to be spiritually mature in Christ , to become Christ-like (portray the characteristics of Jesus Christ through us).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Gal 2:20<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 <strong><em>I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.<\/em><\/strong> (KJV)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0With all this in mind, we will explore the following scriptures according to Paul:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Eph 4:11<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 <strong><em>And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is commonly known as the five-fold ministry, like the hand of a man.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apostle<\/li>\n<li>Prophet<\/li>\n<li>Evangelist<\/li>\n<li>Pastors (Shepherds)<\/li>\n<li>Teachers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In these verses, we also see the perfect will of God. He would never expect you to do anything without empowering you and providing in all your needs.\u00a0 He sends His disciples (and us) to proclaim the Gospel to the lost, but He empowers us through His Spirit (Acts 1:8) and the Gospel (Rom 1:16). The Gospel is not useless information.\u00a0 It is a powerful tool \u2013 the power of God unto salvation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>God provides an authority structure (5-fold ministry) for the church:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each one with specific gifts and characteristics.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>With only ONE common goal and purpose; that is:\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">To serve<\/span><\/strong> the members in the church<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0Paul also addresses this aspect to the Corinthians when he writes about the Spiritual gifts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1Co 12:1 \u2013 28; <\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<strong><em>Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. \u00a0Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It seemed that the Gentiles were easily led astray to dumb idols and Paul reminds them of the true spirit of God and the gifts of the Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>What we need to see and understand from all this, is the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Verse 4-6: \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Now there are diversities of gifts, but the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">same Spirit.<\/span> <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>And there are differences of administrations, but the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">same Lord<\/span>. <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>And there are diversities of operations, but it is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">same God<\/span> which worketh all in all. <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is only one God, who is Spirit and became flesh to die for our sins on the cross and rose on the third day and in Him and through Him we exist and do we praise and worship Him alone.\u00a0 So, we have through the Spirit of God the nine gifts given unto man to be profitable for purposes of the Church \u2013 and not for personal benefits.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>So why do we see and hear so many \u201cprophets\u201d prophesy to businessmen concerning their business decisions? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Where do we draw the line between prophesy and fortune telling and for personal gain? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From verse 7 up to 11, Paul mentions it 5-times that all these gifts are given through the <strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u201csame Spirit\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">If the gifts are given by the same Spirit of God, why is there such division in the Church, the Body of Christ?\u00a0 <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is this division the will of God?\u00a0 <strong>Absolutely not!<\/strong> \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Is everything that happens in churches all over the world the will of God?\u00a0 No, the church has been misled to \u201cidols\u201d and being infiltrated by gimmicks, show business and personal ego altars.\u00a0 The gifts have been made powerless in the hands of the members and the church has sunk to a position of <strong><em>\u201chaving a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof\u201d<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>(<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2Ti 3:5) <\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Members break away from churches and start their own \u201cministries\u201d because of a spirit of rebellion and due to a lack in leadership from the church leaders.<\/li>\n<li>Paul writes that we cannot all be leaders \u2013 it is God who calls and appoint someone as part of the 5-fold ministry.\u00a0 Someone still needs to be a member and if that is what God has called you for, then don\u2019t try to be a leader.\u00a0 You will fail miserable.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Paul describes the church as one body with many members.\u00a0 In verse 13 he proclaims the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1Co 12:13<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 <strong><em>For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>We are baptized into ONE Body \u2013 the Body of Christ \u2013 and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.\u00a0 <\/strong>Once again, if the Church (leaders and members) is <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">saturated <\/span><\/strong>with the same Spirit of God, how is it possible to have difference of opinion on crucial matters such as the doctrine of salvation?\u00a0 Is it that easy for leaders in the various churches to accept the doctrines\/ Gospel that they preach are the truth and nothing but the truth?\u00a0 Is your <em>\u201ctrue salvation plan\u201d<\/em> not perhaps been created by man many years ago in board rooms and not according to the Word of God? \u00a0Maybe it needs some checking out.\u00a0 But before you do that, make sure that you are saturated by the True Spirit of God and not by the \u201cspirit\u201d that is operational in a lot of churches these days. \u00a0Be prepared to challenge every belief system and seek the truth from the Word of God through the guidance of His Spirit.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maybe you think I am critical of things that\u2019s happening in churches today.\u00a0 And you are right, we should be critical because I do not want to waste my time with anything else than the true spirit of God.\u00a0 The Church of Jesus Christ was born in the real fire of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2) and anything else comes from satan who is the deceiver of all men.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1Jn 4:1<\/span><\/strong><strong><em>\u00a0 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Heb 5:14<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 <strong><em>But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil. (ESV)<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>God has given us the gift of discernment to identify all the devious plans of satan and to walk in His perfect will.\u00a0 Unfortunately the church has lost her ability to discern between right and wrong and it has become so easy just to follow the \u201c<strong><em>latest trend or revival<\/em><\/strong>\u201d being portrayed as the \u201c<strong><em>new move of God\u201d!<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0Don\u2019t look for a church that preaches <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">revival<\/span><\/strong>!\u00a0 It is temporary and will not last.\u00a0 Rather seek out the few who preach <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">transformation<\/span><\/strong> because you need to be transformed by the Word and Spirit of God to be never the same again.\u00a0 There is still a lot to say on this subject.\u00a0 <strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s go back to the scripture of Paul concerning the Body of Christ.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1Co 12:14 \u2013 18 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He writes that the Body has many members<\/li>\n<li>Each one has a responsibility to perform its duty in the body and also has accountability towards the other members.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>No one member can decide to do what it pleases and no one is more important than the others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">In verse 18 he writes: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<em>But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">as it hath pleased him\u201d.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The establishment of the Church as the Body of Christ is and has been God\u2019s perfect plan and will.\u00a0 It is His original plan and thought that He concluded with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as well as the outpouring of His Spirit \u2013 empowering of the Church to do greater things.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">verse 27<\/span><\/strong> he summarizes again:\u00a0 \u201c<strong><em>Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it\u201d.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 And then he also writes to the Corinthians about the same authorization structure, such as the five-fold ministry but this time he also includes the gifts.\u00a0 He specifically mentions administrating \/ government (KJV) &#8211; meaning there is definitely a place in the Body of Christ for governing structures to oversee the proclamation of the Gospel in Spirit and in Truth.<\/p>\n<p>Going back to the scripture in Ephesians again, we see that God:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Has established the 5-fold ministry in the Church.<\/li>\n<li>He has given the nine spiritual gifts<\/li>\n<li>He has done everything to empower the leaders of the Church to lead the Body of Christ in truth and in Spirit\n<ul>\n<li>And to do what?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Eph 4:12- 14; <\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<strong><em>to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">equip the saints<\/span> for the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">work of ministry<\/span>, for building up the body of Christ<\/em><\/strong><em>,<\/em>The above verses refer to Spiritual maturity in Christ.\u00a0 Each member in the Body of Christ need to be equipped with the Word in Truth, until:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>we all attain to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unity of the faith<\/span>\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Jesus prayed that they may all be one (John 17:21)<\/li>\n<li>Diversity but no division<\/li>\n<li>No compromises to the truth and the Word of God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>and of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">knowledge of the Son of God<\/span>, <\/em><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Who Jesus Christ is according to scripture<strong><em> (KJV) <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Eph 3:1-21<\/li>\n<li>Isa 7:14 &amp; 9:6 &amp; 35:4-5;\u00a0 43:10-11<\/li>\n<li>John 1:1- 14<\/li>\n<li>1 Tim 3:16<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">mature manhood<\/span>,<\/em><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Spiritual maturity<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Heb 5:12-14<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ<\/span>,<\/em><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The Body of Christ in unity and working together<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The power and glory of God is evident in the Church<\/li>\n<li>Holiness and fruit of righteousness being revealed through the love of Jesus Christ.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.<\/em><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>With discernment to identify the false prophets and their doctrines. <strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>To stand firm in faith and proclaim the true salvation plan and power of God<strong><em>. <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">This brings us to verse 16 (KJV): <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth,<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is not only the responsibility of the leaders but also of each member because God gives the gifts to all and He is no respecter of persons. (Acts 10:34).\u00a0\u00a0 The leaders need to empower their members to grow to maturity and to bear fruit in the Kingdom of God.\u00a0 But Paul stipulates <strong><em>\u201c\u2026.the whole body fitly joined and compacted by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">that which every joint supplieth<\/span>\u2026.\u201d and\u00a0 \u201c.. according to the effectual working in the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">measure of every part<\/span>..\u201d <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each member contributes a part in the growth of the Body, even if it is minute in proportion.\u00a0 That means you directly influence the growth of the Body of Christ (or local congregation where you attend) by your input or the lack of it.\u00a0 In what sense do we <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">deprive<\/span><\/strong> the Body of Christ then if we withhold our:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Time and dedication towards services and other projects?<\/li>\n<li>Obedience to the Word being preached regularly?<\/li>\n<li>Tithes and offerings?<\/li>\n<li>Testimonies and to invite other people to the congregation?<\/li>\n<li>Talents and gifts<\/li>\n<li>Responsibilities being allocated to you as being a member of your local congregation?\n<ul>\n<li>Are you the loose shackle that would make the chain weak?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Paul concludes in verse 17 that we should not walk in the ways of the Gentiles (in the vanity of their mind) and in verse 23-24 he provides the right guidance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
