Vision for South Africa

Quite a few of my fb-pals know about the dream that I have received on the night of 12 August 2010, where I saw the Bible in front of me and was fully aware of the fact that I should give the following verse to someone – who exactly I do not know.  All I could see/ was aware of, was verse 18 of 2 Corinthians – and could not see in which chapter.

The past 16 years under the new government has seen a lot af changes and most of them not so good, especially the corruption, crime, poor service delivery, arrogance, etc. coming to the fore.  The latest strike of all the government employees is quite disturbing with all of the threats being thrown to each other and it leaves one with a sickening feeling of something bad is about to happen?  How far away is South Africa from total anarchy? Especially if the Police and the Defence Force also wants to join this circus?

I guess there would be a lot of “yes” responses from people who which that it should happen, but believe me in such a situation nobody would be the winner – especially not the minority of white people in this country.   We will then become the same statistic as all the other African countries where there is no more control and stability, where the rebels (more…)

Oh, what joy!

The Book of Romans is so fascinating and through the words of Paul you can sense his passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Rom 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God’s power for the salvation of everyone who believes, of the Jew Read more

Is the grass greener on the other side?

There’s an old saying: “The grass is always greener on the other side.” At some point in life, everyone looks at their circumstances and thinks, “If only… If only I had a better job. If only my spouse were like so-and-so. If only I had gone to college. If only I had the opportunities so-and-so had.” We look around and think everyone else has it better than we do. But I believe comparison is just a trick of the enemy to (more…)

Law & Grace: Part 6

In Part 5, I have dealt with the fact that the Church have replaced the Law of Moses with a new set of church laws and rules and thereby nullify the redemptive work of Christ and the grace of God in our lives.

Please hear my heart again today.  It is not my position or focus to attack the Church or to generalize that all congregations are the same, but I am crying out to all children of God, especially the leaders that we should get our houses in order and in alignment with the true Word of God.

If the Word teaches us that the Gospel is the Good News from God, why is it:

  • That after 2000 years not even 30% of the world population has accepted this Good News?
  • That people would rather commit suicide than to seek for help from other children of God or the local church?
  • So easy for the children of God to lose all hope and faith?
  • That people would fall away from the local church with no valid reason other than they are tired of coming to church?

In countries such as England and Germany and even the USA, many people came to repentance through great revival tours of well known evangelists, but why is it that the second generation from these saved people opted to turn their backs on Jesus Christ and the Church?  In the past century many church buildings have been transformed into local pubs in these so-called Christian countries.

Why would people still accept false religions such as the Jehovah Witnesses or Seventh Day Adventists which in fact is totally based on performance and not on the Grace of God? This is completely in contradiction with the true Word of (more…)

Jesus is Better than Santa

Law & Grace: Part 5

I have dealt in Part 4 with the situation where you should not allow yourself to be manipulated or condemned any longer under:

  • A denominational spirit; or
  • A spirit of performance

In Part 5, I will continue with the fact that the Church in a large context have replaced the Law of Moses with a new set of church laws and rules and thereby nullify the redemptive work of Christ and the grace of God in our lives.

God prophesied in the Book of Hosea (Hos 4:6) that His people (Israel) are destroyed for lack of knowledge and the New Testament Church has a similar problem because there is a major lack of wisdom and insight from the Word of God regarding the true essence of God’s Righteousness and Grace for the Body of Christ. What exactly does the forgiveness of sins mean through the blood of Christ?

With the breakaway of the Protestant church from the Roman Catholic Church, it brought about the further development and introduction of different denominations.  Splinter groups developed through the years because of differences in opinion regarding scripture, leadership style and specific procedures during services.  Leaders from one group would place more emphasis on a particular subject than the other and then each new group tried to convince its followers that they possessed the full gospel and truth of salvation.   This is nothing new because we also find this trend (more…)

Law & Grace: Part 4

Yesterday in Part 3, I have dealt with the forgiveness of sins.

I want to stress the point again – you have received the forgiveness of sins.  You don’t have to ask for it! Forgiveness of all sins in the world has already been given on the day Jesus died on the cross.  He is not giving out grace and forgiveness on a daily basis!  He completed the task by shedding His blood once for all.  (Study Hebr 9).

  • The moment you accept Jesus Christ and His redemptive work on the Cross through faith, this wonderful gift of grace and forgiveness of sins will be released in your live.

In Part 4, I want to deal with a very sensitive aspect and that is:

  • We nullify the redemptive work of Christ and the grace of God in our lives by replacing the Law of Moses with a new set of church laws and rules.
    • One example is where people still want to keep the Sabbath according to the Law.

First of all, I want to concur with the fact that the Church does need some rules and regulations in order to administer and lead, because the ministry of the Gospel could end up in chaos without any rules and guidelines.  The essence of these rules should be to provide guidelines and strategy and not to rule over people or to exclude them from the Gospel or keep them from salvation.

In the book of Hosea, the Lord spoke the following prophecy:

  • My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. (Hos 4:6)

These were very harsh words and unpopular promises of God to His people and it is also evident that it is impossible to keep the Law – each and every one of the more than 2500 of them.  Test this with yourself and see if you can (more…)

Law & Grace – Part 3

Last week in Part 2, I have dealt with the following issues regarding Faith & Grace:

  • You first need to have an understanding of the Law of Moses and its application before you will truly understand the full spectrum of God’s grace to you.
  • Although the penalty of the Law was applied without any mercy on violators, the purpose and benefit of the Law was good because it was intended for the protection and guidance of the people of Israel.

This brings me to a previous part of my life when I was still doing skydiving.  Yes, that means jumping from airplanes that are flying perfectly well.  In order to make the sport as safe as possible for everyone, we had a set of rules to abide (more…)
