Humanism and Faith

spiritual_warfare-300x251

I recently came across the website of The Council for Secular Humanism. Well, I was stunned to say the least. Although I have enormous regard for the progress in science and technology, it seems that followers of secular humanism base their ‘faith’ on this. Yes, I said faith – To believe in something that will bring hope, change and a better future requires faith, and can be classified as a religion, even if you feel that human inventions through science and technology can bring about that change through your ‘optimism’.
They state the following under the heading Prospects for a Better Future: “For the first time in human history we possess the means provided by science and technology to ameliorate the human condition, advance happiness and freedom, and enhance human life for all people on this planet.”
Ameliorate – to make or become better, more bearable, or more satisfactory; improve; meliorate.

Scripture saved my life?

Acts 2:38 A woman had just returned to her home from an evening of church services , when she was startled by an intruder. She caught the man in the act of robbing her home of its valuables and yelled: ‘Stop! Acts2:38!’ (Repent and be Baptized, in the name of Read more

Thought 11

Take charge of unbelief

Take charge of unbelief

Let’s fast from the thought that says, “I don’t believe it.”

1. Take charge of your garden! Your heart is your garden. Proverbs 4:20 says, “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for out of it flow the issues of life.” Adam was responsible for the Garden of Eden when Satan crept in through his deceptive lies. It was Adam’s responsibility to drive that snake out of his garden. Because he was passive and tolerant of Satan’s thoughts in his garden, his life was ruined!

2. Do not for a moment submit to the thought that the devil has power over you! Jesus said in Luke 10:19, “Behold I give you authority to tread upon serpents (devils) and scorpions and over ALL the POWER OF THE ENEMY. And nothing shall by any means hurt you.” This is power that money can’t buy, education can’t acquire, human strength can’t achieve. This is heavenly power that is irrefutable. (more…)

No Limits

The message to our Church on Sunday morning was not to limit God in your life. We limit the Lord in our homes, relationships, finances, jobs, faith, trust, prayer, etc. Jesus must take full control in our life. He is the Light of the World and when you call on Read more

Job Well Done!

Many people are not happy in their jobs or working environment. The King James Version describes how a person’s attitude should be. Take pride in your job (Ex 35:26) Not doing it right can come back to haunt you (Nm 33:5) How to carry out a specific one (Nm 34:16-29) Read more

Thought for the Week.

heartFamily Values

Martyred missionary Jim Elliot once wrote that he thanked God for a dad who “had not spent so much time rearing other people’s children that he hadn’t had time for his own.” The pressure of work can push the priority of family down the list. When we always have to be “on” at work, it’s easy to let down at home. Yet success at home has eternal value.

Principles of Great Faith.

bybelMatthew 8:5 “Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, 8:6 saying, Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.
8:7 And Jesus said to him, I will come and heal him.
8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.
8:9 For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.
8:10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!”

The story of the believing centurion is probably the best example of great faith in the New Testament. Jesus was so impressed with the centurion’s faith, he remarked that he had not found such great faith in Israel — the entire Jewish nation. One might think that such faith should have emerged from one of the religious leaders of the day, such as the Scribes or Pharisees, most of whom had been students of the scriptures from their early youth. But this man was not even a Jew, but a gentile. To make matters more unique, he was a soldier in the Roman army, whose military occupation of Palestine was viewed with disdain by most Jews.
Ironic as it may seem, it isn’t always the religious leaders, ministers, or theologians who aspire toward spiritual things. (more…)

Relations

Relations

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.  For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. (Isaiah 43:1-3)

In today’s life most of the parents are struggling to have a good relationship with their child.  We just don’t understand each other anymore.  I have prayed to the Lord on how a relationship with a child must be, and His answer was: “Your relationship with your child must be the same as your relationship with Me – Child and Father Relationship.” (more…)
